Barbie Girl – Challenge Accepted Quilt

Hello Barbie fans,

I’m Shereece Nicole of Sew Hooked on Treasures (the spot for quilty gems to help you maximize your sewing time). I’m very grateful Riley Blake Designs asked me to participate in the release of the new Barbie Girl fabric line.

I never grew out of my love of Barbie. I went from playing Barbies to collecting Barbies (well, I still do) to, now, creating with Barbie fabric. Because I love all the prints, I decided to create the Challenge Accepted quilt pattern that would allow me to showcase a good variety of the collection. But then I actually had to choose… So hard!

I spared no detail even when it came down to the quilting. I free motion quilted Bs and hearts to show some love to my original best friend.

Timesaving Tips

This pattern utilizes the square in a square quilt block. If this block is new to you, here are some tips for its construction.

  • If your want directional prints to go horizontally or vertically, cut the squares on the bias.
  • The flatter the seams the better to help with points and sewing the rows together. A clapper, really good iron, favorite starch/starch alternative, and wool pressing mat are the best tools to make that happen.
  • When sewing the blocks together, pin the bottom and right side points to make sure everything is aligned properly.

I hope you find these tips helpful! You’re welcome to contact me if you have questions. And you can see more photos on Instagram.

You can get your copy of the Challenge Accepted quilt pattern on my website. Pretty soon the fabrics will be in one of my favorite online fabric stores Fat Quarter Shop. For additional tips and creative inspiration, you can find me on Facebook and Instagram. Feel free to drop me a note when you stop by!

Stitch on me hearties, ♥💕
