After a lifetime of service in the military, my husband retired to his childhood neighborhood – South Hill, in Spokane. South Hill is a collection of memories from the first year spent in our ‘forever’ home – from the squirrels making their home in our backyard to the toadstools growing in the fairy ring, from the rose bushes and freesias in our garden, to our son’s love for the moon and night sky. These are the things that stand out when I think back to that first year as we, finally, put down roots.

A Chilean who calls Washington state home, Fran of Cotton and Joy has been described as “addicted to creating.” Always doodling or crafting, she first learned to quilt while pregnant with her oldest son in 2014, but it wasn’t until 2018 when she encountered the modern quilting world that she was hooked.
Before starting Cotton and Joy, Fran worked 8 years as a web designer and loves happy, bright colors and has a tendency to stay up way too late reading.
