Leafy Keen – Posie Dress and {Modified} Passport to Paradise Backpack

Hi everyone, it’s Kari from That’s Sew Kari. I’m stopping in today with my latest sew for my tween featuring the new Leafy Keen Collection by Amanda Niederhauser.

The moment I saw the selection, I loved all of it! The color combination of shades of pink, gold and greens are unique and striking. The cute calico kitty posing with all the indoor plants made it the cutest ever. Plus, I can never pass up animal print. I chose 5 prints all together — Leafy Keen Main Blush Sparkle, Leafy Keen Cats Hunter, Leafy Keen Sketch Daisy, Leafy Keen Sketch Razzmatazz, and Leafy Keen Spots Clover.

I sewed up the Posie Dress by Peony Patterns using 3 of the 5 prints. My daughter loves the fit/style and I love that I can add in coordinating fabrics for the pockets and side panels. Can you spot the Razzmatazz as faux piping outlining the Spots in Clover?

Then I made another coordinating backpack using my own pattern I created for Project Run & Play — the Passport to Paradise Mini Backpack. This time, I modified it slightly with a couple of techniques I learned from the Little Lizard King Vada Backpack.

Inside the backpack, I used the Sketch in Daisy which perfect match the gold kitties. Pop over to my blog to read all the details and modifications that I made.

On the way back to the car, my daughter was gushing about her new outfit! It makes me happy to know that she still loves getting handmade.
