Liberty Home – A New Quilt Pattern

Hi! This is Jen Belnap from The Smitten Chicken. I am stopping by today to share a new pattern with you. My pattern is called Liberty Home. I love patriotic fabric and when I saw Land of the Brave by My Mind’s Eye, I knew I had to create a new quilt.

Land of the Brave by My Mind’s Eye

As summer wraps up, I thought I would share some of our family adventures. This summer, my family and I were planning an extended vacation back to the east coast where we used to live. And I knew we had to take a quilt along for some pics! If you want to make this quilt too, it is now available in my Etsy shop!

Arlington National Cemetery with Liberty Home Quilt

One of my favorite places to visit is Arlington National Cemetery outside of Washington DC. It is such a humbling experience to stand in Arlington National Cemetery. I thought about all of those soldiers who gave their lives so I could enjoy the freedoms I have today. The thought came to my mind; some soldiers come home and some do not. And that is where the inspiration for my latest quilt pattern came, Liberty Home.

WWII Monument with Liberty Home Quilt

We took Liberty Home all over and took some fun pics. My absolute favorite monument in DC is the WWII Monument. It is so peaceful. My grandpa fought in WWII so I often think of him while I am there. He was one of the lucky ones who got to come home. At the WWII Monument, each state has its own pillar and wreath. We love walking around and finding each of the states that we have lived in and called home.

Spaceship Discovery with Liberty Home Quilt

We also went to the Air and Space Smithsonian. (My son is OBSESSED!!!) We saw the spaceship Discovery. This theme of coming home stayed with me all week. Standing here, I thought of the astronauts who travel into space and those who get to come home. There have also been losses in space. I was thinking of those astronauts as well.

Statue of Liberty with Liberty Home Quilt

One of our stops on the east coast was NYC. I love taking my kids out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The Statue of Liberty was the first thing that immigrants saw as they made their way to their new home. And nothing says patriotic more like the Statue of Liberty.

Thanks for stopping by today. You can find this new pattern in my Etsy shop. Liberty Home would make a perfect Quilt of Valor quilt. I would love to see what you make!

Chirp Out!
