Make It Modern – StarMazed Quilt

Hi Makers! It’s Lisa Jo of Neverlandstitches. I am back with an interesting Make It Modern project. What I have have done it taken my StarMazed quilt pattern and made it in cream, blues and grays from the Riley Blake’s Dapple Dot Basic collection.

The original version of this quilt was made in the fall using Wildwood Wander.

Not only did I make the quilt it in a basic collection, I added unequal borders to make the quilt a rectangle.

I added a gray border of 2.5 inches on the left and right and 2 inches on the top and bottom of the quilt. This was followed by a 3 inch border of blue on the left and right and a 2.5 inch border to the top and bottom. Please note that the measurements mentioned are what the strips were cut at. I wanted to make the sawtooth stars in the quilt pop as well as the color strips intersections so I used Vintage Blue Shades as background for those sections.

Using the same fabric as the backing as the binding helps to tie all the colors together on the quilt. I also, used a simple pantograph while quilting the quilt to help make it look very modern, simple and elegant.

If you’s like to make your own Make It Modern version of StarMazed, the pattern is available in my Etsy shop.
