Shades of Autumn – Stepping Stones Quilt + Free PDF Pattern

Hello Quilting Friends! It’s Melissa Corry from Happy Quilting  here. Today, I am thrilled to be sharing this brand new Stepping Stones quilt as well as a Free PDF Pattern for it!!! This quilt features  Shades of Autumn Fabrics by My Minds Eye. I fell in love with this line the first time I saw it. It has so many beautiful fall shades and beautiful artwork in the prints!!! And of course, you have to love the pops of metallic thrown throughout, so great!!!

Stepping Stones is made with one Rolie Polie of  Shades of Autumn Fabrics  You use most all of the strips, and since they are all cut the same size, you can get sewing in no time!! I paired the beautiful prints with the Pina Colada Sparkler Basic for the background and it is the perfect fall neutral, and it is doubly perfect for this quilt as it has some more pops of metallic 😉 I used Mocha Texture for the binding and it frames all that pretty patchwork perfectly.

Stepping Stones is a simply twist on a coin collecting quilt. I just offset my rows of coins and then added some sashing. It gives it such a fun design that has a lot of movement while still being super simple to piece 😉 It would be perfect for beginners and experts alike and would make a perfect gift!!

The Stepping Stones quilt is picnic Size and finishes at 62″ x 77″ so it is the prefect size to curl up under a tree with on a Fall day while enjoying a good book. And as I mentioned, there is a free PDF Download of this pattern, so you can make your own!!! To get the FREE PDF Simply Patchwork Pattern Download, just click to my blog and download it there 🙂

When it came time to quilt mine I wanted to add to the “stepping stones” effect. So I added some large pebbles in rows, because truly, there is no better design than pebbles to read “stone”. Then I did some fun ribbon candy on the “coin” piecing, and finished up with wavy lines, in the center background sections. I love how they move up throughout the quilt and look like pavers stones 😉 This one was so much fun to quilt and I am so happy with how it turned out.

And talk about some amazing texture!!! Isn’t that just so awesome 😉 So that is my Stepping Stones Quilt,, now how about you make one too!!! When you are finished you can share your quilt with me on social media using hashtags #happyquiltingwithmc and #rileyblakedesigns and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can’t wait to see your Stepping Stones quilts!!!
