Meet Spooky Hollow, the newest and cutest not-so-spooky Halloween themed fabric line designed by Mellissa Mortenson of Polka Dot Chair.
When asked about the inspiration behind her fabric line, Melissa said, “Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. When my kids were small, I loved to help them “design” their costumes and decorate the house to celebrate the holiday. Now that my kids are grown, I find myself nostalgic for all of those Halloweens when they were small. To design this line, I drew on memories of my kids dressed up in costumes going door to door for candy on a crisp autumn evening. The collection features kids trick-or-treating on Halloween night, who stumble on a haunted house full of gothic charm. There’s a pumpkin patch in the backyard and bats in the belfry. I hope yo enjoy sewing with this line as much as I enjoyed designing it.”
We know we enjoy looking at each of these prints and can’t wait to start whipping up some fun projects! Melissa curated a fun color palette of black, orange, purple, and even teal for this adorable fabric collection. You’ll even find a bit of sparkle (in the Bats prints) and some super cool glow in the dark!
Here is a closer look at the Main print Melissa talked about. You can spot the cute little trick-or-treaters with their bags of candy, and little black bats flying through the night sky. This print will be available in Gray (shown here), Charcoal, and Egg Shell.
We can’t get enough of the Cats print with it’s very cool and mysterious looking tone on tone cats. Take a look at those eyes — yes, they are silver sparkle! How fun is that?! Cats will be available in Orange (shown here), Charcoal, and Teal.
And, of course, we had share a close-up of the Eyeballs print. All of those not-so-spooky little eyeballs peering out of the darkness are too cute! And yes, the whites of the eyes are actual Glow-in-the-Dark! Eyeballs will come in Eggplant (shown here), Gray, and Ghoul.
The Spooky Hollow collection also features a Trick or Treat Tote fabric panel. Need a quick and easy trick-or-treat bag? Follow the instructions printed on the fabric panel to whip up a tote in not time. Or, cut out the squares and use them as blocks in a quilt or work them into a pillow design. So many options!
We can’t wait to start creating with Spooky Hollow. We’re dreaming up tote bags, quilts, pillows, pajamas, table runners and more! What will you make with Spooky Hollow?
