Hi Makers! It’s Lisa Jo of Neverlandstitches back with a new quilt pattern called Shattered. I used Heather Peterson of Anka’s Treasure newest collection, Market Street to create this version of the quilt.
Heather Peterson used the inspiration of fall in Minnesota as inspiration for the collection Market Street. The colors of navy, tea rose, green cream yellow, coral, berry, and teal make up the palette used in this collection which is full of geometric shapes and flowers.
I decided to focus on the triangle prints in the collection. I decided to use some of Expression Batiks as the background print. It’s so fun to mix some of the Expression Batiks and quilting cottons together in a quilt. I would encourage you to give it a try.
Shattered is a quilt that looks very complicated, but I broke it down to make it simple to make the pieces, assemble the blocks and quilt top. The quilt Shattered can be viewed in different ways…it can be viewed as a symbol of things blowing up or falling apart or it can be the symbol of rebuilding and coming back together. This very special quilt is going to live with a wonderful family that has come back together again after being apart for 5 years. The triangles symbolize dad, mom, and children. This is a blended family, yet the bonds are so strong as they have overcome obstacles and tragedy and the circles in the Expressions Batiks represent the unbreakable bonds.
I quilted the quilt using a panto called Circle Drama on my Q’Nique midarm. Circle Drama coordinated very well with the Expressions Batiks.
Shattered will be available in my Etsy shop this week if you’d like to make your own version. It would make a wonderful gift for some special in your life or a donation to a women’s shelter.
If you’d like to make your own version of Shattered, pick up your favorite prints from the Market Street collection and maybe some Expressions Batiks from your favorite quilt shops and the pattern from my Etsy Shop.
