Perhaps the best part of my job is traveling and meeting with people that share our passion for fabric. These ladies are definitely these kind of people. This was a dinner shared with fabric friends in New Zealand.
We were visiting Cushla (to the right of me-plus two members of her staff) of Cushla’s Village Fabrics in Marupa, New Zealand.
Cushla has a beautiful shop with a good selection of Riley Blake fabrics.
But we were not there just for a visit, we were there to teach a day of classes.
We loved meeting ladies from all over New Zealand, two of the ladies were from out of the country.
The local reporter stopped by for a photo for the local paper…I guess we were kinda of a big deal that day:)
They were able to make this little cottage pincushion, plus we worked on a table runner using Lori Holts circle rulers.
This is the little Cottage that is next to Cushla’s home and it was our treat to stay in it.
Lots of rustic charm with hanging grape vines on the front porch….
…and a little lemon tree packed full of ripe lemons.
t was a great day to teach and a beautiful place to spend a little time….but this is a quick trip and we were off to Auckland to visit Nutex.
Nutex had a nice display of or Shades and our basics fabrics at the entrance of the building.
We visited with over 32 different shop owners and were able to teach a  few classes, show off some quilts and show our new designer collections. It was great fun!
Even Jay of Nutex jumped into one of the sewing classes and made a skirt. Â (FYI his wife is expecting…hoping for a girl I think).
We had such a great time and will cherish the time we spent in New Zealand.
Lots of creative people in New Zealand…a perfect example is the yarn tree featured below. Â On our free day we happened upon this tree in Davonport, NZ. Amazing!
 Bye for now.
