Hello! I’m Laura from Slice of Pi Quilts, and I’m jumping over here to the Riley Blake blog to share a really fun quilt I just finished! It looks like a JUMBO box of Crayola crayons!
Do you remember that new crayon box feeling at the start of every school year?? Oh, the joy! I still remember my favorite color from the 64 count box – Cerulean Blue.
The pattern for this quilt is FREE on the Riley Blake website! Get it HERE! The quilt top uses Confetti Cottons solids and features lots of colors!
The quilt uses paper piecing for the crayon tips, but uses raw-edge applique for the other elements.
Something really special happened on the back too! I used the Colors of Kindness panel for the back! It was *just* a tad bit too narrow, so I added one of the coordinating prints from the collection on the sides. I love that this makes it a double-sided quilt!
I debated long and hard about how to quilt this one. I was torn between vertical or horizontal straight line quilting with my walking foot, and horizontal won out! I think it turned out great!
I just love those simple green stripes that instantly transport me back to the third grade and my jumbo box of crayons!
Such a fun quilt! Wouldn’t this be great for a teacher?! A fantastic quilt to display and use in the classroom! The quilt is about 38″ square, so a great wall-hanging or lap size!
