Quillows have been around a long time and are very easy to make – I made one for my preschooler (way back in the mid-90s!) and still remember how much he loved it! I’m using the Crayola® Colors of Kindness™ fabric from Riley Blake Designs – perfect if you’re going to make a quillow for a special child in your life.
If you’ve never made a quilt before this is a great place to start. It’s all straight stitching, no binding and I’ll walk you through the whole process step-by-step. Quillows make wonderful gifts, are perfect for picnic or beach blankets, road trips and more. You can make them in any size but in this tutorial we are keeping it simple and making one from 2 cuts of quilting fabric that measures approx. 40″ x 49″ when finished and folds into a 14″ pillow.
In the video below I’ll show you what a quillow is, how to fold a quillow and then how to sew a quillow.
