I have been itching to share our version of the COLOSSAL BLOCKS QUILT with you, and it’s finally time!
This FREE Tutorial found at WE ALL SEW is easy to follow and provides a great exercise in perspective and color.
The original tutorial is for a baby quilt, but I wanted something a little larger. It was easy to turn this into a throw sized quilt by simply adding three extra blocks.
The entire quilt is made up of large triangles. Once you get the hang of cutting the triangles, the cutting, arranging and assembly is a snap.
Riley Blake Confetti Cottons come in a wide variety of colors, so the possibilities for this quilt are endless! Instead of a white background, it could be fun to use cream or gray fabrics, or you could extend the colorful blocks so they cover the entire quilt.
Gorgeous! You can hop on over to WE ALL SEW for the complete step-by-step tutorial and grab some Confetti Cottons to make your very own Colossal Block quilt.
The all-over swirl design adds playful movement to this linear, modern design. You could also choose to quilt this with straight lines following the lines of the blocks, or even just taking the lines straight across the length of the quilt. It’s up to you!
The quilt is backed with this fabulous Fuschia Blossom Dot; a new Riley Blake Basic designed by Christopher Thompson. Paired with the Riley Lime solid binding, this quilt is anything but boring!
