We are excited to help kick off the blog tour with a super quick and easy jersey knit Teething Blanky.

This little blanky is super soft, stroller-friendly, and takes just a few minutes to make!

Let’s get started!

You will need:

  • Natural maple teething ring
  • 2 – 17″ squares Desert Bloom jersey knit fabric (I used Red Desert Main for the front piece and Gray Desert Stripe for the back piece)
  • 1 – 10″ x 3″ strip Desert Bloom jersey knit fabric (I used Gray Desert Main)

Begin by folding your 10″ x 3″ strip in half lengthwise. Using a 1/2″ seam allowance, stitch along the length of the strip and along one short end. Clip the corners close to stitching.

Turn right side out and pin to one of the corners of the back piece of fabric, as shown.

Baste the strip in place, stitching on a diagonal.

Pin the front and back pieces with right sides facing each other. The 10″ strip will be sandwiched in between the two pieces. Leave a 3″ opening on one side. I used green pins to mark my 3″ opening.

Using a 1/2″ seam allowance, stitch around the edges. When you get to the corner where the 10″ strip is attached, pivot your presser foot and stitch at a diagonal, about 1″ in from the corner. Be sure to leave your 3″ opening for turning.

Clip the corners on a diagonal close to corner. Be careful not to clip the stitches. This helps the corners to lay flat when you turn it right side out.

Turn right side out.

Top stitch 1/4″ around the edges.

Sew a 3/8″ buttonhole about 1/2″ – 1″ from corner seam, as shown. This might seem really small, but that is intentional. You want it just large enough to thread the strip through, but small enough that the knot will hold and not slip through.

The final step is to wrap the 10″ strip around the wooden ring and thread it through the buttonhole on the back side of the blanky. Pull it through to the front and tie a knot. The know will show on the front of the blanky.
