Hello Quilting Friends! It’s Melissa Corry from Happy Quilting . Today, I am thrilled to be sharing this brand new Road Home Snuggler quilt as well as a Free PDF Pattern for it!!! This quilt features New Designer Flannel by some of our favorite Riley Blake designers!! I absolutely love making flannel quilts, they are so soft to snuggle up in!!! So when I saw the fun “adventure” flannels, I knew they would be perfect for a Road Home Snuggler quilt for the cabin!!
The Road Home Snuggler quilt is made with one 10″ stacker. You just need 42 squares that are 10″ to get going on this quilt. So I cut up (12) 1/3 yard cuts of this beautiful designer flannel to get the 42 squares needed to make this quilt. And once you have your 10″ squares, you can go straight to sewing!!! Of course, you can easily grab a 10″ stacker (it is already cut (42) 10″ squares) , but I wanted this quilt to be all cabin, so I focused on the 12 prints shown.
The Road Home Snuggler quilt is just simply large Half Square Triangles that are then put together in a random layout. Your HST’s are made with two prints, so it makes the random layout work great, just giving it a fun cheater print look. And again, because it is made from flannel, it is so super soft and snuggly!!!
The Road Home Snuggler quilt is lap Size and finishes at 54″ x 63″ so it is the prefect size to curl up in. And as I mentioned, there is a free PDF Download of this pattern, so you can make your own!!! To get the FREE PDF Road Home Snuggler Pattern just click to my blog and download it there 🙂 And if you are a beginner and want some extra tips on making this quilt . . . visit this free Step by Step tutorial at my blog 🙂 Yup, I have made this quilt lots and it is always a perfect one to whip up and snuggle in, I am glad that I can now share it as a free PDF Download pattern as well 🙂
When it came time to quilt mine I wanted to keep this super soft, so I opted for a rather large scale simply meandering design that I just did all over. When making flannel quilts, I like to keep the quilting super light so it doesn’t take away from the flannel. And it also has the bonus of being quilted super fast!! It took me more time to load the quilt on the longarm then it did to quilt it 😉
So that is my Road Home Snuggler quilt, and now, you can make your own!!! When you are finished you can share your quilt with me on social media using hashtags #happyquiltingwithmc and #rileyblakedesigns and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can’t wait to see your Road Home Snuggler quilts!!
