Hello friends, this is Jennifer Long, Bee Sew Inspired, back to share a fun tutorial, inspired by the beautiful Emma Fabric by Citrus and Mint Designs for Riley Blake Designs. I love the use of color in this collection and wanted to design a simple quilt and share a free tutorial with you this summer.
I LOVE a good quilt that looks like it has taken months to make, when in fact, you can whip up this beauty with some fun and simple strip piecing!!! YAY! I am walking you through the tutorial on the Bee Sew Inspired website HERE.
This beautiful fabric line is called Emma by Citrus and Mint for Riley Blake Designs. It is a nod to Jane Austin and I thought it was just the PERFECT fabric to create this quilt with! So colorful, elegant and with it’s own sense of flow and movement in the colors! The main print features some tiny ballroom dancing in it! Oh my heart!
Of course, I had to add some whimsy to this quilt, and chose to insert one of my Enchanted Story Blocks of the Month Quilt Blocks, into this quilt. The Block is called “Lady in Waiting”, and can be purchased in my shop separately HERE or is included in the Bee Sew Inspired Maker’s Club annual membership HERE. It really feels like this lovely lady is dancing around the quilt!
How do we make this appearance of colors moving around the quilt with such ease? Using the Bargello piecing technique, we create the appearance of movement in the Trip Around the Ballroom Quilt. Just imagine the travelling steps you would dance around a ballroom! 1, 2, 3… 1, 2, 3…

Even though this summer is just flying by, I LOVE to create everyday.
