Seasons Greeting! It’s Jen Belnap from The Smitten Chicken. I am stopping by the Riley Blake Designs blog today with a fun new quilt pattern!
I absolutely LOVE the Christmas season! And I LOVE novelty Christmas fabric. As usual, Jill Howarth knocked this fabric line out of the park! Twas is so cute!!! I mean, look at all of the sweet Santas and the little mice…so cute! And of course a little pink makes it my favorite!
If you are like me and collect novelty Christmas and Holiday prints, you probably have a decent size stash! But I always have a hard time finding a way to showcase these adorable prints. So I came up with a new quilt pattern called Fam Jams! This is the perfect way to showcase those fun Christmas prints.
How did I come up with this pattern? As the Holiday season was nearing, I started making lists of all of the things I needed to do. I make matching pjs just about every year for my family. (which is no small feat since we have 8 people in our family!) So on the list: 8 pairs of pj pants. Right under that I wrote: Make Holiday quilt. Since both of them were right next to each other I kept thinking I’ve got to make pants and a quilt. Then one day I woke up thinking I should make a pj pants quilt! And that is how Fam Jams came to be!
This is the only snow this quilt will see (since I live in Texas!) I spent a dreamy weekend up in the Tetons sewing with my best friends! They all helped me crank this quilt out in record time! Ya’ll are the best! This quilt was sew much fun to create! Once we were finished sewing we drove up to this breathtaking view of the Tetons for a quick photo shoot!
There is a variation in the pattern that has you cuff some of your pj pants. Do you see the cute green cuffs on the pink fabric print? They are so cute!
Fam Jams is designed for an Advanced Beginner. But don’t worry, I have plenty of diagrams to walk you through the whole process! This pattern is traditional piecing with no appliqué or foundation paper piecing. And in true Jen style, this pattern is FAST! You could still make this in time for the Holidays.
I had so much fun designing this quilt pattern and stitching it up. I can’t wait to snuggle under this watching our favorite Christmas movies! In our matching Christmas pjs of course!
