This month, we’re talking about one of our favorite basics – Gingham!
Riley Blake Gingham Basics are as fresh and happy as they are timeless and versatile.
Our Gingham comes in two different weights: we have quilting weight printed gingham as well as a lighter weight woven gingham.
The Woven Gingham can be used for quilting, but also works well for clothing because of its soft drape. It would also be lovely as a breezy curtain.
The Quilting Weight Printed Gingham is perfect for quilting and children’s clothing, as well as some home decor applications.
I used both types of Gingham in this fun No Drama Llama pillow. The easy applique pattern comes from the fun ZOOTROPOLIS book by Sassafras Lane.
The pink Gingham background is our Woven Gingham, while the aqua gingham background is our Printed Gingham.
Paired with Riley Blake Confetti Cottons and Shades Basics, the two Gingham Basics work beautifully together to make this delightfully quirky and cheerful pillow.
The different applique blocks can be combined to create a quilt, or used individually, as I did here, to create a pillow.
I added a fuschia Confetti Cotton binding and a basic envelope back for this pillow.
I purchased a beaded trim to adorn the llama’s neck, however, if you were using this in a nursery, you would want to skip the beads and instead applique a fun neck decoration or sew a non-beaded trim.
We can’t get enough of this cute llama pillow! I see several more of these in my future!
