Hey y’all! It’s Hilary of @byhilaryjordan back again with another quilty project. This time I worked with the new Go West With John Wayne fabric, which is outside my comfort zone because they are colors that I wouldn’t normally select. But, you want to know the best thing about working outside your comfort zone? Sometimes you can surprise yourself into liking something new. 🥰
In the spirit of the fabrics, I decided to make the Campfire Quilt by Suzy Quilts. It’s a modern take on a traditional Log Cabin and it was so much fun to make. The Bandana prints in the Go West With John Wayne collection are some of my favorites, and it was a perfect fussy cut center for the quilt.
I went with red just like traditional log cabin quilts. Did you know that a red center square in a log cabin block or quilt was thought to symbolize the hearth of the home?
I used some of my favorite Riley Blake Basics to coordinate, including Shabby and Bee Cross Stitch. The background is the Bee Backgrounds Tiny Circle in the color Honey, and it was the perfect complement to the Go West With John Wayne fabrics.
My son said that this quilt is perfect for his grandpa, so my Dad will be the lucky recipient of the quilt. It’ll be perfect for when he and my Mom go on their RV adventures. Go West With John Wayne Fabrics are available now in your favorite local quilt shop.
