We are having so much fun this month playing with Kaleidoscope fabrics! Kaleidoscope by Crayola® is one of our favorite Riley Blake basics.
The tonal qualities and the wide variety of colors make this the perfect staple for every fabric shelf.
I decided to use the leftover scraps from my Little Fishies Quilt to make a fun little back-to-school zipper pouch.
I used this easy zipper pouch TUTORIAL from Melly Sews. Once you make one pouch, you’ll see how simple it would be to customize it by changing the size, adding some applique, etc.
I decided to quilt my zipper pouch for a little bit more structure. I used a fusible fleece, which I bonded to the outer fabrics. Then I quilted the outer pieces with simple straight lines about 1/2″ apart.
I used three different Kaleidoscope colors for this bag: Midnight Blue (front), Mermaid Tail (back), and Raindrop (bag lining).
I cut a square from Deena Rutter’s Varsity Volleyball panel and used Heat n’ Bond fusible adhesive to applique it to the bag front, finishing it off with a simple zig-zag stitch.
These zipper pouches are fast and easy makes. Perfect for stash-busting, you can have a pile of these whipped up in an afternoon, just in time for back-to-school!
