I am super excited to share a quick and easy quilt tutorial with you today featuring fabric from Simple Simon & Co.’s latest collection, Let Them Be Little.
Let Them Be Little is a darling collection featuring bold, bright primary colors and upbeat messages that embrace the simplicity and charm of childhood.
The large panel measures 56″ x 61″. I added two borders to the panel, which created a finished quilt measuring approximately 61″ x 66″. You can make this as large as you want by adding larger borders, or easily cut it down to a baby quilt.
The little squares are so sweet and could be embellished with some simple embroidery for a one-of-a-kind quilt. To make this quilt, you will need:
- 1 Let Them Be Little quilt panel
- 8 – 2.5″ x WOF Red Text
- 8 – 2.5″ x WOF Little Fruit in Pink
- Quilt Batting
- Fabric for quilt back
- binding
*All seam allowances are 1/4″
Begin by sewing the short ends of the Red Text fabric until you form one long strip. Press seams open.
Add the Red Text strips to each side, trimming the ends flush with the main panel. Press seams toward the Red Text fabric.
Add the Red Text strips to the top and bottom, trimming the edges so they are flush with the ends of the side borders. Press seams toward Red Text border. Repeat this process to add the pink Little Fruit border. Your quilt top is complete!
Make your quilt sandwich (quilt back + batting + quilt top) . Baste. Quilt. Add binding and you are done!
To quilt this, I did simple straight line quilting in the gingham and border areas.
Inside the individual vignettes, I did some basic stitching around the objects, with a little bit of hand embroidery sprinkled in.
For the quilt back, I used Riley Blake Swiss Dot in Reverse Black. I used Riley Blake 1/4″ Black Stripe for the binding.
I LOVE this color combination! The bold black and white will easily grow with a young child, while the splash of pink is just plain sweet!
The quilt panel is such a fabulous option when you are pressed for time, but still want to create something unique. The options for personalizing it are endless!
