Lost At Sea – Baby Cuddles Quilt

Good Morning! It’s Jessica Dayon and today I’d like to share the quilt that I made using Lost At Sea by Natàlia Juan Abelló.

When I saw Natalia’s collection, I was so drawn in by the beautiful colors and cute designs featured in it.

The main print is absolutely stunning! I did not fussy cut for the quilt I made but this print has amazing fussy cutting potential!

I decided to make a quilt called Baby Cuddles Quilt pattern by Fresh Dew Drops. I slightly modified the pattern and to make it bigger and I added a border. I did something fun with this quilt that I don’t do often enough- I used a color for the background instead of a white. I used Confetti Cotton in Cornflower and it looks so great! In addition, I used a few RBD Basics- Confetti Cotton in Scuba, Shabby in Nighttime, Shabby in Cherry, Texture in Navy, and Texture in Julep.

I love how this quilt featured the prints. You can see each one of their sweet details and enjoy them all so nicely. Here is the main print again in one of the blocks.

I quilted this quilt on my BERNINA Q24 with Qmatic using the Seafoam pantograph.

For the backing, I used Bee Cross Stitch in Seaglass. For the binding, I used the same color as the background- Confetti Cotton in Cornflower.

And just like I find myself using white background fabric, I also generally quilt all my quilts with off white thread. Here, for this quilt, I matched my thread to the Cornflower background. I absolutely love it! I’m going to have to experiment with different thread colors more often! I used OMNI Threads in Skyward.

I’m so happy with this pretty quilt!

Thank you for following along with me today! I hope this project inspired you. I love sharing what I’m up to with other makers and also hearing about what you are making too! You can find more of my projects on my blog and on Instagram @jessicadayon
