We are so excited to be part of the Lulabelle Blog Tour today! Lulabelle is Dodi Poulson’s latest fabric collection. It boasts an eclectic modern yet feminine style. Dodi manages to bring bold and soft colors together into one delicious palette.
For the blog tour, I decided to make two quilt blocks using the Weather Vane block we have been playing with this week.
For the first block, I decided to accentuate the deep navy blue by placing it front and center. I fussy cut the little bird and birdcage for a fun focal point.
The contrasting aqua and pale pink really makes the navy blue pop on this block. The white border gives the block a lovely frame and a decidedly modern look.
For the second block, I wanted to create a softer look by focusing on the pale pink and soft blue/green prints. I did add just a touch of navy for some fun contrast.
Notice my mistake in the lower left hand corner? I didn’t even catch that until the block was finished. It adds character, right?
Dodi’s beautiful prints were just a delight to work with. These were such fun blocks to make.
Notice how changing up the color combination completely changes the look of each block. Color is always so much fun to play with.
