Everyone loves a fun outer space themed quilt, and today we are excited to share one with you!
This easy-to-make LONE STAR QUILT features fabric from Apollo 11, our brand new NASA collection.
With it’s bright colors, geeky science prints, NASA patches, and rocket ships, what’s not to LOVE about this collection?!
I used Diary of a Quilter’s super easy Lone Star Quilt TUTORIAL to make this baby quilt. It is made up of large half square triangles, and the large scale of each block makes this quilt come together in a snap!
The White Astrophysics print makes a super fun, low-volume background print, don’t you think? I needed one more gray fabric, so I pulled in the Gray Planets print from our first NASA collection, Out of This World. Can you spot it?
The quilt back is the fun Outer Space print in Gray, and the binding is our Riley Red Confetti Cotton. Using a solid color for the binding not only frames the quilt nicely, but also gives your eye a place to rest.
I used my machine to straight do some basic straight line quilting, keeping the rows about 1/2″ apart.
I love the cool, modern colors and design of this quilt! This would make a fun and super memorable baby gift for any future astronaut!
