Hi! I’m Leanne from Devoted Quilter and I’m excited to share my newest pattern with you today. Meet Points of Connection 🙂
I used the On the Wind collection by Jill Finley to make my Points of Connection quilt. It’s such a fun collection, with kites and dandelion clocks and paper airplanes all flying around on the wind.
I was having a terrible time naming this quilt, so I sent a picture of it to a couple of friends for help. One said the first thing she noticed was all the connections, and together we came up with the name Points of Connection. That seems very appropriate these days as we see all the ways the people of the entire world are connected; from the virus that has traveled so easily from continent to continent, droughts that affect grocery prices far away and the invasion of Ukraine that has us all looking for ways to help. As a bonus, even though there are lots of places where the different parts of the design touch, most of them don’t require matching points!
Square in a square blocks are one of those that are notoriously difficult to sew perfectly, so I opted to paper piece them. I love using freezer paper for all my paper piecing because there’s no ripping out little bits of paper at the end. Seriously, you can skip that step completely! I love teaching paper piecing with freezer paper, too, so if you’d like to know when my next workshop happens, you can sign up for The Bulletin. Subscribers get early access to register for workshops, too!
The Points of Connection pattern is now in my Etsy shop. I made the 42″ x 56″ baby quilt and the pattern also includes instructions for a 56″ x 70″ throw size. The pattern also has instructions for using directional prints in the square in a square units, like these fun kites.
You can connect with me on my blog, Devoted Quilter, and on Instagram and Facebook, too. I love being part of this online quilting community, so I hope you’ll come say hi!
