When I got my hands on some pieces of Lila Tueller’s latest fabric collection, Paige’s Passion, I immediately thought of tropical summer days, a tall glass of lemonade, and brightly painted beach houses. Okay, maybe it’s because I live by the beach, so that is where my mind runs to, but, wow, these prints really do have a lovely coastal vibe.
I decided to make a couple Classic Dakota Star blocks, found in the book, VINTAGE QUILT REVIVAL. I think this block really helps Lila’s bold designs pop!
On one block, I used TREETOP green to balance out the lighter prints. I love how they all work together!
For the second block, I used bolder prints in the center, with a low volume (or lighter print) for the outside triangles.
These blocks are paper pieced, and this was my very first attempt at paper piecing. It really was a cinch to learn. If you are new to paper piecing, I suggest printing up a very simple, free pattern (there are endless offerings online) and then take the time to watch a few video tutorials.
I spotted this gorgeous Bow Tie Quilt made with Paige’s Passion over at 3 IN THE NEST.
I love how the vibrant colors are highlighted against the clean white backdrop. Stop by 3 IN THE NEST for the details on this lovely quilt.
