I’m excited to share a fun and super easy quilt today featuring fabric from Tara Reed’s brand new Send Me To the Woods collection!
Nature prints with a sense of humor? Yes, please! This quilt measures approximately 60″ x 60″, making it a nice sized throw quilt.
These fabrics are gorgeous, with a rich, woodsy color palette and theme, paired with fabric panels with a light sense of humor.
With sayings like “Think Outside – No Box Required” and “Send Me to the Woods – Don’t Let Me Come Back Until I Change My Attitude,” this fabric will bring smiles while wrapping you in warm, quilty comfort.
I used the Green Woods Panel for this quilt. You can see that it comes with four squares and a Gray Forest border at the top and bottom.
For the sashing and borders, I used the Gray Forest, Brown Buffalo Plaid, and Black Toss.
To begin, we’ll want to cut the fabric panel into four sections as shown.
Next I added the Gray Forest sashing. I made the vertical sashing 3″ wide, and the horizontal sashing 2.5″ wide. When you cut the sashing, keep in mind that the trees are directional. Sew a 2.5″ strip between the two left hand squares. Press. Repeat for the two right hand squares.
Sew the 3″ sashing along the entire length of the left. Press.
Sew along length of right side. Press.
Add a 3″ border to each side.
Next add the Brown Buffalo Check border. I used 2″ strips for this, which adds a nice frame for the center panel.
Finally, sew the outer border using 8″ strips of the Black Toss.
I quilted this on my home machine with an easy stipple design. This is a great design for beginners to learn. Just a little practice and you can have this technique mastered!
For the quilt back, I used our Blossom Basic in the Gray Wide Back. I love wide backs — they are so convenient to work with!
And that’s it! With Riley Black Confetti Cotton for the binding, this quilt is finished!
A quick finish that makes a great gift for lovers of nature and the outdoors.
