It’s time for another sneak peek, and today we’re thrilled to give you a look at Notting Hill, the newest fabric collection by Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter.
We asked Amy to tell us about the inspiration behind her new collection. Here is what she said: “I’m a proud Anglophile, and London is my favorite city in the world. I have lived in England a few times in my life, including living in the Notting Hill neighborhood when I fell in love with the place. I love the streets and significant monuments like the Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Piccadilly Circus; as well as the everyday events like riding in the front of a double-decker bus down Oxford Street, strolling through Kensington Gardens, and eating Hobnobs from a local shop in Bayswater Road. Every time I return to London, I feel like I’ve come home. I’m so excited to release this collection inspired by the city along with classic English roses, dots, tartans, and ginghams. The London toile print is extra sentimental as it includes the house I lived in at 27 Palace Court. So grab a bundle along with your brolly, a cuppa, and “Bob’s your uncle,” you’re part of the fun!”
We have to say, Amy’s love for London came out loud and clear in this beautiful collection. The color palette of red, pink, yellow, blue, and green has both a cheerful and traditional feel to it.
Take a closer look at the Main floral print shown here. Those roses are simply “brilliant” and the tiny blue and white flower sprays add such a sweet pop of color and texture. The Main print comes in Yellow (shown here), Songbird, and Denim.
Here is a peek at the London toile print Amy talked about. Aren’t those watercolor drawings fun? The delicate brush strokes give the structures a lovely, soft artistic feel. London will be available in Blush (shown here), Yellow, and Denim.
We LOVE tiny designs, and this Union Jack print is certainly at the top of our favs list! The cute little flags are so small, they could almost pass as a dot. Adorable! Union Jack comes in Aqua (shown here), Blush, and White.
The Notting Hill collection also features this fun Banner Panel. The triangles come in two sizes on this panel: large and small, so you can make two separate buntings, or alternate the two sizes in one long bunting. We are dreaming up a fu little doll house bunting with the smaller triangles. Cute!
We can’t wait to start creating with these fabrics! We’re dreaming up quilts, pajamas, dresses, bags, and so much more! What will you create with Notting Hill?
Notting Hill, designed by Amy Smart, is expected to arrive on the shelves of your favorite local and online quilt shops mid-February.
