Hello! It’s Amy from Ameroonie Designs. Sweetbriar is a gorgeous new line from Citrus and Mint Designs and I was lucky enough to get to play with it! The tones of the fabric are soothing and autumnal without being traditional fall colors. There are lovely florals, fantastic blenders and lots of fun prints and motifs.
I decided to play with the mushroom motif found in the moth and floral prints. I started working on some new pattern designs, but in the process I just found myself having fun.
The simple designs of these mushrooms gave me a fun opportunity to show off the fabrics.
Mug rugs are a great place to play with new quilting techniques. I used free motion quilting to add details to the mushroom cap and create interest in the underside of the mushroom. If you are trying to improve your quilting skills, I highly recommend sewing up some mug rugs. You don’t even have to use any piecing, just create your quilt sandwich and get quilting.
These mushroom mug rug patterns are going to be released next year, but in the meantime, I just wanted to encourage you to get out some fabric and play. The process of creating is never wasted. And if you want some patterns to try playing with, you might like my Rainbow Sunset mug rug pattern, or my Mini Rainbow applique mug rug pattern. Both are quick and fun. And mug rugs also make great gifts too!
So whether you make a mug rug, or some other project, take time today to be creative. You will be so glad you did! Happy Sewing friends! Amy
