We were thrilled when Riley Blake designer, Sedef Imer, contacted us about participating in her Zakka Home Book Tour! Sedef’s natural talent and eye for beauty shows in everything she creates. Her newest book, Zakka Home, reflects this as well. From the back of the book…
“Zakka is a Japanese design aesthetic that combines usefulness with beauty and style. In this book, Sedef Imer has created a collection of simple, pretty, and handy projects inspired by the art of Zakka to help organize and beautify your home. Suitable for all levels of sewists, you will be inspired by these fun and easy-to-sew projects that will brighten and adorn your home.”
I decided to make the Take Me Home quilt. The opportunity to play with a variety of prints and colors was too good to pass up! I used fabrics from Tammie Green’s latest fabric collection, Hand Picked, and the result was beautiful!
I opted to make a smaller crib sized version, which is easy to do — simply adjust the number of blocks. You can see that my quilt used 42 blocks — 6 across and 7 down.
I quilted it with simple straight line stitching, but this quilt lends itself to any quilting style you could dream up.
For the quilt back I used Riley Blake Hot Pink Swiss Dot. How cute is that?!
The vibrant colors and bold florals in Tammie Green’s Hand Picked collection really pop in this quilt.
Zakka Home is available for purchase through local and online quilt shops and mass book sellers. Tammie Green’s Hand Picked fabric can be found at your favorite local and online quilt shops.
