4-H Minimal Triangles Quilt

Riley Blake Designs is excited to be the officially licensed manufacture of 4-H fabric! Beginning in 1902, the 4-H program has been instrumental in mentoring children and youth across the country.

From the 4-H website: “In 4‑H, kids complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Kids experience 4‑H in every county and parish in the country through in-school and after-school programs, school and community clubs and 4‑H camps.”

The 4-H fabric arrives in stores this month, and we couldn’t wait to play with it!

We used the Minimal Triangles Quilt pattern — a FREE Tutorial found at SIMPLE SIMON & CO.

The only change we made was that we decreased the number of squares to make a throw sized quilt. Easy!

The quilt is made up of half square triangles sewn from standard 10″ squares. If you have a 10″ stacker lying around, this quilt is for you!

We quilted it with straight lines spaced about 1/2″ apart. The simple straight lines help to emphasize the modern, minimalist feel of this quilt design.

For the quilt back and binding, we used Riley Blake Blossom Basic in Navy. The navy is a few shades darker than the blue in the 4-H fabrics. We liked this difference, as it added a bold frame and slight contrast to the strong colors in this collection.

This quilt was so fun and so easy to make! We are loving the greens and blues. Set against the Riley White Confetti Cotton, they really pop!

This dramatic, modern quilt would be a fun choice to give to a friend, or to donate to a raffle or fundraiser. You can find the FREE tutorial to make your very own Minimal Triangles Quilt HERE.
