We are honored and delighted to be today’s stop on Bev McCullough’s Book Tour for her newest book, Make it Mini!
This book is a fun combination of fabulous mini quilt projects with a touch of embroidery. The projects range in style and difficulty but Bev is there to walk you through every step of the sewing and embroidery elements. Since the projects are all mini, these projects are perfect for a confident beginner! Does that sound like you? Read to the end of this post for a chance to win your own copy!!
The book itself is published by Martingale and is a beautiful, high quality book.
All the projects are so sweet, it was hard to choose just one for this feature! After looking through our stash and the projects in the book, we made Bev’s Walking on Sunshine mini with the Nicholas collection by Janet Wecker Frisch.
The embroidered middle section was this cute leaf wreath that we thought would look adorable with a holiday line. This project came together so quickly and the instructions were clear and helpful when it came to sewing curves and learning how to do embroidery stitches like french knots.
When it comes to embroidery, we found a few notions that really made things go smoothly: Aurifil embroidery floss, Jillily Studio Poke-A-Dots Sticky Thimbles, and Bev’s darling (and strong) Needle Minders.
How cute is this mini as a table topper for Christmas cookies? We just love how it turned out! Bev recommends taking a bit of creative license to make projects your own. We opted to add curved corners to our mini.
The Nicholas fabric collection was the perfect choice for this project. The colors and the art are spectacular! You can find this fabric at your favorite local and online quilt shops.
