Riley Blake Designs was thrilled to be a part, for the second time, of the Modern Quilt Guild Fabric Challenge. The fabric used in this challenge was The Cottage Garden designed by The Quilted Fish. We appreciated all of the creativity, skill and talent that went into each inspiring quilt that was entered. All of the quilts were beautiful, which made our decision even more difficult to make. Thank you to all of the participants.
1st place goes to “X’s and O’s” by Susan Clay, Individual MQG Member – This quilt has an exciting use of color along with the interesting design placement and excellent use of the prints. It was beautifully quilted, and we especially liked the tidiness of the piecing, quilting and binding.
2nd place goes to “Tight Rope Walking” by Rita Scheiner, Individual MQG Member
This quilt has excellent fabric placement. We love the fussy cutting which highlighted the Cottage Garden prints very well. The quilting added to the overall presentation of the whole quilt.
3rd place goes to “Ode to the Hex” by Mary Kay Fosnacht, Kansas City MQG Modern Quilt Guild
This unique design has very interesting fabric placement. We appreciated the technically precise way it was quilted and pieced. We also like the way the quilting was used to accent the piecing.
Honorable Mention goes to “Anything is Possible” by Caroline Press, Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild
We love the “creativity” and inspiration of this quilt. It embodies what the challenge was all about. Well done!
Take a look below at our finalists. All beautiful works of art, we are amazed at your vision and creativity. It always amazes us how each quilt, using the same fabrics, can look so uniquely different. Great job everyone!
