Blast Off – QAYG Strip Quilt

Hello! Laura here from Slice of Pi Quilts! As a mom of three boys that love all things space, I’m so excited to share this quilt with you!

Blast Off fabric collection

The quilt started with the “I love you to the moon and back” panel and a 4″ strip of each print in the Blast Off collection. All the prints – and even the panel! – are flannel!

I layered the panel and batting out on the floor, then sewed the strips -adding one at a time – through all the layers. This quilted the quilt at the same time that I sewed it together!

My youngest son (he’s almost four) pressed the sewing machine pedal to sew every strip!

With his help, the whole quilt was sewn in about 30 minutes!

The corner of the quilt is flipped over to lay on the other side, showing that the quilt is double sided with a panel on one side and strips of fabric on the other

It took about 30 more minutes to machine sew the binding on. (I have a tutorial for that on my blog HERE.) Isn’t the striped fabric from the collection perfect for binding?!

The result: a super quick and easy TWO sided quilt! (That my youngest son has already claimed as his own!) It’s SO soft and snuggly too!
