Collection Preview – Happy at Home

Happy at Home – These three words describe me to a T! Home is where I create, dream, work, and live. My husband and I (and a few dozen contractors) have transformed an old 1923 craftsman fixer upper in Portland, Oregon into a home we both adore. We’ve put our fingerprint on every space and every surface – remodeling bathrooms and the kitchen and painting and decorating. We created work spaces for me to paint, sew, craft and build my business. Twenty-five years of license plates from different places we’ve lived have even been incorporated on the basement stairs and the Little Free Library I built when we first moved in. But to me “HOME” is more than just the physical space and the things that are in it – it’s a feeling. It’s the safe place to go when you are both happy and sad. The place and people that just feel right. I feel fortunate to do work that I love from a place that always feels like home.

Designer: Tara Reed

Tara has been creating things for as long as she could hold a crayon, pencil or paintbrush. She remembers falling in love with sewing in the 7th grade when her friend’s mom taught them how to make wrap-around skirts! (Remember them??) She loves to sew for the home and began quilting in the 90s when her son was born. Her motto is, “Why buy something if you can make it?”

Since 2004, Tara has licensed her watercolors for a myriad of products sold online and in stores worldwide – from garden flags to coffee mugs, wall art to dishes and of course – fabric. Creating patterns, like those that grace bolts of fabric featuring her art, is one of her favorite things to do. Tara creates from her home studio in Portland, Oregon.
