Cook Book – Diamond String Quilt

Hi, Everyone! It’s Jessica Dayon here and today I’d like to share the Diamond String quilt that I made using Cook Book by Lori Holt. In case you don’t know me, you can find my blog at Jessica Dayon and you can follow me on Instagram @jessicadayon.

I adore every collection that Lori Holt comes out with and I eagerly await each release! Cook Book is no different! Look at these beautiful prints-

For this quilt, I used the Diamond String block tutorial from Susies Scraps blog. I followed Susies pattern except I cut from fat quarters instead of scrap strings. I cut my fat quarters into 1 1/2″ x 21″ strips and I used that to piece the blocks. I did want slight variety on how the strings came together at the seams, so I decided to alter my seam allowance when I was sewing each strip. This mimics the effect you get when you have strings that are different widths without actually cutting them at different widths.

For the string portion of the block, I used all of the prints from Cook Book by Lori Holt. For the background fabric, I used Confetti Cotton in Songbird. This color is gorgeous and coordinates so nicely with each of the Cook Book prints. You can find all of the details of this quilt on my blog.
