Hi, I’m Damjana from AppleGreen Cottage and I’m excited to be with you today! I’d like to show you my latest makes from my popular TRIA coin purse pattern. And show you how the iconic Liberty Fabrics’ prints sparked an idea – the TRIA has just gotten better because of them!
I’m a sewing pattern designer, and in my world, new bag pattern design ideas often emerge from playing with fabric. And if I’m lucky, even my existing designs evolve into something better. I love that! This small coin purse is a proof how it can happen when the right fabrics come into play.
This time, I used The Artist’s Home Collection by Liberty Fabrics. How do you like these two?
It All Started With the New Liberty Fabrics collection…
When I first spotted The Artist’s Home Collection from Liberty Fabrics, I knew those gorgeous, detail-rich prints and the captivating colors were endless opportunities, just waiting to happen. I loved how all the vibrant colors and florals were captured in so many exciting new colorways.
I picked a simple sewing project – a tiny coin purse, my TRIA pattern. I made a plain TRIA coin purse first, and then played around with bits of the small Annabelle Bailey prints, with the trailing flowers and leaves – and can you spot the berries? My favorites!
Those sparked an idea for a cute little pocket on the front side. It turned out perfect, so I included it in the pattern file!
What followed was an update of the pattern, and now the Tria coin purse pattern file is not just easier to use but also incudes this charming modification – you can either opt to sew a quick ‘plain’ Tria version, or make a flap-pocket Tria.
Which one would you prefer to sew?
This cute coin purse is so quick to sew! If you haven’t made a wallet yet, start with this pattern. It’s easy, quick, and great if you have already sewn a few things but are not yet sure about how to sew pockets and zippers. The TRIA pattern will also show you how to sew zippers the neat way (no more pinched ends!)
I can safely say I’m pretty happy about the new improvement. And I’m SO ready to start seeing your makes!
Liberty Fabrics’ The Artist’s Home Collection is divided up into groups of colors that have their own names. I couldn’t decide which one’s my favorite so I made the first TRIA in the Painted Sunset colorway, and the other, blue Tria coin purse is sewn with the Watercolour Garden collection. So pretty!
