Hello Friends
It is Sarah here from Piccolo Studio in Australia. I am so excited to show you my latest makes which also happen to be a very sneaky peek at my next pattern release – the Sleepover set!
As soon as Emma, the latest collection by Rachel Erickson from Citrus and Mint Designs, I knew she would be absolutely perfect for my cover model. It is such a sweet range with lots of details that make it perfect for everything from fussy cutting to using larger size pieces.
Years and years before I started pattern designing and blogging I used to run a business selling personalised items for little ones. It was extremely successful for so many reasons. I still get asked often to make items for sweet babes and birthdays however I just don’t have the time anymore. This pattern will be your go to for a range of makes that can be pulled together to make a set or gifted individually.
Any parent who has sent their little one to camps, sleepovers, childcare etc will know the pain of lost items. Sure we can just use a black texta like normal people but why not make it pretty, personal to your child and something that will automatically be recognisable by you AND them when it is time to pack up for home. And if you need a quick gift then I promise this pattern will be your go to especially with Christmas coming.
It is easy to see why Emma was the perfect collection for this pattern isn’t it! Look at all the detail I could put into this simple name applique on a store bought blanket. There is not one letter that doesn’t make me smile with those sweet birds, houses and florals.
Amahlia is 4 and I was told loves pink. While I have honored that, this set will grow with her as the fabrics are not too young or too juvenile in design. The idea that a child can have a loved handmade item for years and years has always been the premise Piccolo Studio was built on as a direct reaction to a mass-producing society. This blanket marries the 2 perfectly.
Look at that little bird peeking out there – let’s all pretend that was deliberate shall we!
I took these photos in Hannah’s beachy themed, teenage room, within a couple of minutes it was easy to create something welcoming for a younger person. One afternoon of sewing will easily create the loveliest of welcomes for little guests, with or without coordinating LED lights.
The Sleepover Set pattern will have a few makes within it. I want you to be able to sit down and make something beautiful in an afternoon so I have done all the hard work for you. Just this pillowcase and applique alone will be the start of something special. It is nearly ready to go and I have so much more of this gorgeous collection to show you all over the coming weeks.
Thank you so much for having me today, I look forward to returning to share the completed pattern with you all.
Happy Sewing
Sarah xx
