Honey Bee – Quilted Zippered Pouch

Hi Creative Cohorts! It’s Tina again coming at you on the heels of a VERY exciting week – premiering my very own bag pattern at this week’s QuiltCon! The perfect fabric for perfecting the pattern was the Honey Bee Collection by My Mind’s Eye for Riley Blake Designs.

I am having a *moment* with the color yellow – this bee fabric is speaking my language!

I couldn’t help but think that this was the perfect fabric to free motion quilt a little bumble bee flight on!

My pattern uses two quilted panels that make up the outer portion of the bag. You can add a little pizazz with quilting flair, a fun zipper color, top stitching thread choice, or ALL OF THE ABOVE!

I love how easy it is to switch to the free motion quilting on my Janome M7- the magnetic switching needle plates make all the difference!

I also wanted to play with the white and black line drawing fabrics. They are a great juxtaposition to the geometric patterns of this line. They all play so well together.

Keep an eye out on my blog and Instagram, I’m hoping to release this pattern for sale after the craziness of QuiltCon settles down! I’m also looking for a good bag name! Drop one in the comments if you have an ideas!

I hope you enjoy this BEE-utiful bag and are inspired to create a honey-sweet creation of your own!

Happy Sewing!

-Tina
