Hey my quilty friends, it’s Ingrid here, from Joe June and Mae.
I am so excited to show you my newest project…. The pretzel breakfast table cloth.
The new Hush Hush2 fabric series by many talented Riley Blake Designers features several super pretty low volume prints, that are perfect for more tonal sewing projects.
And this table cloth is one of them, don’t you agree?
I chose some of the rally cute prints of Hush Hush 2 and a sand colored fabric for the pretzels and an adorable tan colored gingham for the binding.
I made 4 pretzel quilt blocks.
One of the prints actually features tiny pretzels, which is beyond cute.
Then I added small squares using several of the low volume prints of Hush Hush 2. There are many prints that are perfect for fussy cutting as well.
I decided to place the blocks ‘on point’ rather than straight.
This adds an interesting touch, I find diagonal lines a bit more dynamic than straight lines.
‘On point’ in quilting means, that you place the blocks like diamonds, meaning their corners are facing you, rather than their sides.
As a backing I used a solid white fabric, I quilted around the pretzels and along the lines of the squares.
I made bias binding out of the tan colored gingham fabric, which matches perfectly.
I like small bindings and mitered corners. So thats what I added to this table cloth.
Now its time to buy some pretzels and have breakfast, right?
