Hi! It’s Jen Belnap from The Smitten Chicken! I am stopping by today to share a new pattern with y’all featuring the new Hush Hush 3 fabric line by the Riley Blake designers.
Hush Hush 3 is a line of low volume fabrics that are so fun and full of variety. Each print is designed by a different designer. Making this quilt felt like hanging out with all of my favorite designers and friends! Which print is your favorite?
I designed this quilt as a modern variation of an Irish chain block. Traditionally an Irish chain quilt is made with two colors; a background and a contrasting color. I decided to use all of these amazing low volumes as my background. Aren’t these prints sew much fun? I love the little cherries and the mushrooms! So adorable! The solid that I used is the Confetti Cotton Marsala. This maroonish color is one of my new favorites.
What’s in a name? Since this is an Irish chain quilt, I found a fun Irish lullaby called Too-ra-loo which means; goodbye, I’ll be seeing you. What a sweet sentiment. Often when we make quilts, we give them away. Isn’t that the message as we give a quilt…goodbye, I’ll be seeing you? Plus, this Hush Hush 3 line reminded me of the times I have spent rocking babies and singing lullabies to my babies. So there you have it, Hush Too-ra-loo!
This quilt is the perfect throw size! And it is FAST to sew together! My sewing time is super limited these days with all the kid activities we have going on. So this new quilt pattern is quick and easy. You could even have this done in time for the Holidays!
