I’d Rather Be Playing Chess – Reversible Checkerboard Bucket Hat

We’re visiting BAYHILL STUDIO today, where Julia is sharing a seriously cool Bucket Hat featuring fabric from the I’d Rather Be Playing Chess collection designed by Tara Reed.

We love the versatility of this Checkerboard print! Sewn up in a trendy bucket hat, it has a cool skater appeal that teens will love, but a chess player will immediately recognize the chess board and will certainly be drawn to it as well. Such a fun homemade gift idea! Julia used the Sorrento Bucket Hat Pattern by Elbe Textiles found HERE.

The Black Stripe fabric in the lining adds a nice contrast, or turn it inside out to make it the outer print — yes, this hat is reversible! So cool! For added structure, Julia added stabilizer and a layer of batting to the brim. Hop on over to Julia’s BLOG for photos and details, and be sure to follow her on Instagram @bayhillstudio for more project ideas and inspiration.

I’d Rather be Playing Chess, designed by Tara Reed, is on its way to your favorite local and online quilt shops. Pre-order yours today and share your makes with us on Instagram using #rileyblakedesigns #iloverileyblake and tag us @rileyblakedesigns.
