Nice Ice Baby – Beachcomber Quilt

Good Morning, Everyone! It’s Jessica Dayon here and today I’d like to share the Beacomber Quilt that I made using Nice Ice Baby by Deena Rutter. In case you don’t know me, you can find my blog at Jessica Dayon and you can follow me on Instagram @jessicadayon.

When I saw Nice Ice Baby, I new that I wanted to make quilt for my son. Every print in this collection is adorable and I knew he’d love it! Have a look-

I love pairing each collection that I use with some RBD basics. RBD makes the best basics and I love what they add to a quilt! RDB even takes the guesswork out of pairing basics with fabric collections because on the Storyboard, they list some matching basics! The Storyboard is a fantastic resource! For this quilt, in addition to the prints from Nice Ice Baby, I used the following RBD basics: Teal Swiss Dot, Confetti Cotton in Colonial, and Bee Cross Stitch in Riley Teal. For the background fabric, I used Denim Pin Dot.

The pattern I used to make this quilt is Beachcomber by Lella Boutique. This quilt was super quick and very enjoyable to make! The blocks came to gather so quickly!

I’m so happy with how this quilt turned out and so is my son! Have a look at the full quilt-

For the backing, I used Lori Holt Shabby in Cottage Cloud. I absolutely LOVE this fabric! You can see what it looks like below. Also, if you have following along with my posts this year, you’ll know that I’m trying to make an extra effort to really personalize all of the quilt I make. While I didn’t add anything particularly special to the front of this quilt, I did add a fun surprise to the back!

I used the Penguin Party pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. I made one penguin and pieced him into the backing. I also added a label with my name and date (the date is on the backside of the label).

I had the best time making this quilt! Thank you for following along with me! I love sharing what I’m up to with other makers and also hearing about what you are making too! You can find more of my projects on my blog and on Instagram @jessicadayon
