Petal Lane Mini Quilt with FREE Pattern

Petal Lane is a fresh new fabric line designed by Bo Bunny. The sweet Spring color palette combined with organic, nature inspired design comes together in a delightful feast for the eyes!

When this little bundle of happy mail arrived, I had to let it sit on my table for several days jut to admire the beautiful prints.

I decided this would make a lovely little mini quilt – perfect for hanging on the wall or a cheerful centerpiece. Riley Blake Designs offers a plethora of free downloadable mini quilt designs, and I opted to use the beautiful Garden Path pattern. It is simple to make, and could easily be turned into a decorative pillow just by adding a pillow back.

For this project, you will need:

  • 1/8 yard Cream Petal Floral (border)
  • 1/4 yard Pink Petal Main
  • 1/4 yard Pink Petal Sweet
  • 1/4 Yard Pink Petal Posh
  • 1/4 yard Pink Petal Posies
  • 3/8 yard Off White Linen (LN300)
  • 1/4 yard Pink Petal Delightful (border)
  • fabric for quilt back (I used scraps)

Follow the instructions for the Garden Path Mini Quilt HERE. The finished quilt measures approximately 20” x 20”.

For the off white background, I used one of Riley Blake Designs’ new Linen fabrics in Off White. It adds a lovely texture and quilts up beautifully.

To prepare for quilting, I spray basted, then pressed the layers. Pressing helps the spray adhesive hold the layers together better, and also helps to smooth out any wrinkles.

Ready to quilt! I love how the off white Linen fabric works in these pinwheel blocks to really make each print pop!

I quilted rows 1/4” apart starting in one corner, then going down to the center, pivoting on the center line to make a “V” shape, then back toward the opposite corner.

For the binding, cut your Pink Petal Delightful fabric into three 2.5” x WOF strips. I like to use this Fast Machine Binding method by Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter.

For the quilt back, I decided to use up my scraps. I simply sewed together seven 3.5” strips. It turned out so pretty!

And that’s all there is to it! Download your FREE Garden Path Mini quilt pattern to make your very own Petal Lane Mini!
