Hi Riley Blake Designs fans, it’s Damjana from AppleGreen Cottage here and I’m excited to show you what I’ve been creating with the latest line by Echo Park Paper Co, the Flower Garden – meet my brand new sewing pattern, the SILA Duo zipper pouch.
When the Flower Garden fabric arrived, I knew right away that I had to turn that beautiful main print into a bag. A zippered one, if possible. How about a large makeup case for both home-storage, or a great, generously sized on-the-go travel pouch?
I had a bag pattern just like this, sitting in my drafts – for too long already. It was waiting for the right fabric to come my way, and when I spotted the main floral in the Flower Garden line, I knew this was the perfect collection for the new pattern to shine. The spring palette, the flower clusters with roses, daisies, and the plaids, all these were perfect for what I had in mind. I paired them with a beautiful Sparkler print from RBD Basics collection. Timeless!
The Sila pattern features
- a main compartment with top zipper closure and an interior slip pocket
- an easy-access full-width front pocket with a flap, and
- a complementary, nested small zipper pouch.
The additional, nested zippered ‘pocket’ was designed with the ease of use in mind. It’s an entirely removable flat pouch that will add even more functionality to your set.
This way, you can decide to make one or several, totally depending on what you want to use your SILA Duo zipper pouch set for. Our pattern testing team had so many great ideas for it!
Also, the slim pouch sewing instructions offer two options, so you can sew a single-print zipper pouch, or a pieced version. A tip: use some pretty contrasting print for the little slip pocket that’s hidden inside. People love little pop-of-color-surprises inside a zipper pouch!
How gorgeous are these florals from the Flower Garden collection?
The small pouch is perfect for complementary storage of, say, makeup brushes, bills, or pencils, depending on its use. With everything neatly organized and easy to reach, the SILA Duo Pouch makes a great travel set.
SILA Duo Pouch could also make a handy organizer to keep track of your projects. Do you happen to be taking part in the RBD Quilt Block Challenge 2022? I’ve got an idea for you:
