The officially licensed Smokey Bear collection is finally here and we are soooo excited!
The vintage Smokey posters and artwork are seriously so fun. We have a million and one project ideas we want to make with this fabric!
We are completely in love with this poster print which is loaded with all of the old posters you’ll remember from your childhood!
The Smokey coordinates feature tone-on-tones, text prints, and tiny little Smokey Bears.
The 36″ x 42/43″ panel is perfect for a quick and easy quilt. I used the FREE Leap of Freedom Panel Quilt PATTERN to make this quilt. It’s as simple as adding three borders, basting, quilting, and binding!
I practiced some free motion quilting on the panel, and for the most part, I love how it turned out.
I followed along with the general pattern of Smokey’s fur and outline of his hat in a dark brown thread.
For the rest of the panel, I used a medium gray thread. Here is a closeup of the trees to the left of Smokey. I added simple branch outlines for more depth.
Here is a look at some of the all over free motion quilting I did in the tree section above Smokey’s head.
I had fun stitching this cursive “Smokey Bear” on the Gray Shades Borders. Super easy and adds a pop of interest.
I used the Smokey Bear Cloud Signs print for the quilt back. LOVE all of those little sayings!
