We are completely smitten with Amy Smart’s brand new cheerful, vintage inspired fabric collection, Sugarhouse Park!
The sweet florals and plaids and stripes all fit with modern tastes, but still manage to evoke images from the past.
Amy skillfully brought together reds, yellows, greens, and blues — even some sweet mint – to create a collection of designs that are loaded with charm and beauty!
I decided to remake my BRICK AND MORTAR CRIB QUILT to show off these lovely fabrics. The quilt comes together quickly and easily without sacrificing visual impact.
Two changes I made to the original tutorial:
- I shortened the quilt to 4 rows instead of 5, so the finished measurement is approximately 42″ x 42″.
- I used 12 different fabrics instead of the 6 fabrics called for in the original tutorial. There were just too many beautiful prints to choose from
Instead of a solid white sashing, I used the Sugarhouse Park Cream Daisy print, which adds some timeless, vintage appeal and a lovely softness to the modern lines.
I quilted in simple, straight lines, spacing the lines about 2″ apart. I liked the idea of looser quilting here to increase the cuddle factor.
I loved the Sugarhouse Park Floral print so much, I used it twice on the quilt top, and backed it with the White version. How cute is that?! The binding is Sweet Mint in our Confetti Cotton.
Aren’t those colors delicious? You can find the Brick and Mortar Crib Quilt tutorial HERE.
