Hello sewing friends! I’m Laurel from Snowberry Street back with a couple of lovely bags made with the beautiful new Sweetbriar collection by Rachel Erickson of Citrus & Mint. Which bag is your favorite? I can’t decide!
I just adore Rachel’s artwork! I fell in love with the moth print in that beautiful wine color and had to have it! Rhylee of Two Crazy Stitches quilted the moth and creamy floral prints together for me with Soft and Stable sandwiched in the middle. From that 1 yard quilted panel, I cut all the pieces for two patterns by Kaitlyn from Knot and Thread Design: the Violet Backpack and the Athena Crossbody.
I really love Kaitlyn’s bag patterns! If you haven’t tried making one of her bags yet, I suggest you try one! Kaitlyn also carries all the hardware, strapping, and zippers you’ll need to complete the patterns in her shop. So helpful! Either of these bags would make a great gift for a birthday or Christmas. Handmade and useful is my favorite combo!
These bags are loaded with pockets and organization! The Violet Backpack has three inner pockets and one zipper pocket on the front. I made the adult-sized straps (child-sized straps are also included in the pattern) and found them easy to adjust and comfortable to wear. Love the size of the bag! Great backpack for a small child or for an adult as a backpack/purse and looks good being either!
The Athena Crossbody has a mesh pocket inside, a pocket on the back, and a zipper pocket on the front. The long strap is easy to adjust and with three D-rings attached to the bag, the strap is easily customizable to your wearing preferences. This bag is small, but mighty! It looks difficult, but really was a lot easier than it looks! You can do these curves!
Which one will you try first?
