Today we tried out the Variable Star block, using Bonnie’s Traditional Block Thursday Variable Star tutorial. In Bonnie’s past two tutorials, we got a chance to play with variations of the Flying Geese block, and this was another fun and simple variation.
I decided to do my first block in red and white – a modern, reversed take on the red and white block Bonnie made. I always love the classic, bold look of red and white quilts.
Next I paired our gorgeous Lagoon solid with Gray, for a lower volume, yet still very modern look.
I could see creating an entire quilt top with this one block, or varying shades of blue and green with the same gray background, or even making each block completely unique with different colored stars and backgrounds. So many possibilities!
