Today marks our final quilt block tutorial for Traditional Block Thursday! I hope you have enjoyed following along and learning a new trick or two from Bonnie.
Today, Bonnie shows us how to make this beautiful Weather Vane quilt block. The Weather Vane block pulls together several different techniques she has taught us over the past few months.
For version #1 of this block, I decided to keep the colors simple with a strong contrast. The contrast really makes the center stand out – almost looking like a plus sign. The corners pop dramatically as well, and I think the overall effect is very pleasing.
With the holidays just around the corner, I decided break away from the modern solids and add some festive color and pattern combinations.
I also opted to keep the center square the solid white color. Look how different the block looks with just that simple change!
