Woodland Spring is here, and we could not wait to start playing with it!
I decided that the GINGHAM DAYDREAM QUILT, by Polka Dot Chair, was the perfect fit for these dreamy fabrics.
The color palette, with its bold Navy and soft peaches, creams, and blues, provide the ideal contrast for the gingham effect in this quilt design.
The quilt calls for Dark, Medium, and Light fabrics. All three are sewn into quarter square triangle blocks. The effect is that this quilt appears to be sewn on the diagonal, when in fact it is not. Pretty cool!
I used the Navy prints for the dark blocks. For the medium blocks, I used the light blue, peach, and cream prints. If you want a more monochromatic look, you could use all light blue or all peach. Both would look lovely. I used Confetti Cotton “Off White” for the light squares.
There is nothing like a good quilt swirl to show how the fabrics play together. Isn’t the color combination delicious?
I quilted this on my home machine with a basics stippling design.
The quilt is backed with our Blossom Wide Back in Clover.
I love how the use of quarter square triangles provide such visual interest, taking traditional gingham and kicking it up a notch. You can find the Gingham Daydream quilt pattern, by Polka Dot Chair, HERE.
